Power makes unmatchable ghastly and control makes one voracityy. In the novel, Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, the main character, Okonkwo, witnesses this through the accidental get through of a young boy to the invasion of colonists. He becomes mad and greedy for more power, believing the Ibo elders and men with title, like him, should be the ones making the decisions. The madness and greed consume the colonists and missionaries as well. The regulate Commissioner, a neat man, threw Ibo batch into jail for actions that were alien to him, except a part of their e realday lives. Missionaries forgot their reason of being among the Ibo people, manduction their faith, and began to strike villagers and the culture down with words of selfishness, destroying them and their culture. The effect this greed and madness had on Okonkwo, was life changing and ending. Colonists and missionaries brought anger and devastation to the Ibo people in the novel, Things Fall Apart.
The colonists brought a government with them that punish Ibo people for their actions that were everyday life for them. Nothing was thought of it when white men first came to the Ibo people. It was one white man, he make noises that seemed to come from his throat and he road an adjure horse, or bicycle, but soon The Oracle of the Hills warned them that the man was bringing danger.



The Ibo people then, out of trust in their Oracle, killed the man and tied his iron horse to the sacred cotton tree. When the news reached the colonists they did not call back it lightly, they charged the land, The three white men and a very large number of other men surrounded the food market…And they began to shoot. Everybody was killed… (139). The white men mass murdered the Ibo people for spare-time activity their culture and beliefs. The demolition of a fellow colonist meant the death of the malicious Ibo people.
