My Children Will Wear Uniforms
As a parent, I feel that the great concept that was ever created for schoolchildren is that of needful school invariants. I rejoiced the mean solar day I received the memo, thinking pleasant thoughts about how I could say “Goodbye,” to the name brand tennis shoes and wearable that my children would acquire sold their souls to the Devil for. Not that I want name brand clothing, I just enjoy occupation in brands such as “Phat Farm” and “Roca Ware” for the consistent brand, “French Toast.” Why, might you ask, am I on the mandatory school kindred bandwagon? I feel that mandatory uniform programs in elementary and middle schools reduce violence, increase schoolman achievement and increase individual student self esteem.
The cognitive content of school violence has littered the headlines of mainstream media for years. The increased instances of photos with gruesome scenes from columbine High School and Virginia Tech University have all do us take a second look at how we can protect our most precious gifts, our children.
Incidents of robbery, assault, rape and assassinate were offenses that once seemed to only occur in back alleyways and subways. We would have never imagined such atrocities happening amidst the hallowed halls where our schoolchildren learned and vie without care. Schools all around the United States and the world have straightway been forced into considering not only how to best educate our children, only when also how best to protect them from harm. Mandatory school uniform programs have become a large part in the answer to reducing school violence.
