Some would say Victor is shallow, foolish, and selfish, and its hard to argue with. Victor abandons his infantile establishment neglecting to feed or care for the monster. Some would say Victor is the real monster, but should victor be hated? one could look at him with sympathy and even suggest his hire compares to our own creations; bad decisions we never come to terms with or take accountability for.
In turn, much analysis is consumed with oil of vitriol towards Victor. Perhaps we should suck the log from our eye before we pull the splinter from his. Victors slip into madness is a reflectance of his humanity and perhaps our own humanity, as well as a reflection of our own obsessions. More importantly, its a reflection of our individual idiosyncrasies that we may never change but suffer to except. It could be argued that victor is the hero in this story for exposing humanity for what it is. He just happens to be an exaggerated version of our culture.
