Most of the other prophets prophesied to Israel and Judah where perfection had a different location to carry the message of idol. perfection comes to him by saying son of Amittai go to Ninevah and prophesize to them about their vileness and wickedness. This is the call for them to repent to idol for their sins. Jonah disobeys god and leaves town and found a ship going to Tarshish. Everything he did was against what God wanted him to do. God shows his power and the power over nature. God turns the sea into a fearful situation for the sailors onboard the ship Jonah has boarded. Jonah shows a lack of fear of the almighty God. The workforce on the boat were God fearing, but they worshiped different Gods than Jonah. They soon realized that the God of Jonah was the almighty and prayed to have forgiveness on them and Jonah. Then the sailors prayed to Jonahs God to calm the seas and they would follow and obey him if he would detached them.
Then God calms the sea to show his mighty power. This is the take a office opposite from Jonah, but God isnt through with Jonah yet. Then God sends a whale by to take away Jonah up which terrifies him. Jonah starts to pray for to God for his mercy and shows he is convinced God answers prayers. This may have been when he repents to God to show mercy for his sins this may have been Gods plan the whole time. God ask Jonah to go to the people of Ninevah and ask them to repent the same way that God has made Jonah. God
