There has been multiple attempts to create equality in the workplace and none of them seem to be working 100%. Trying to close the wage gap is a very difficult but not an impossible task, and some argue if it’s even worth it. There are two articles on this issue that represent the different sides very well. In Source A, States Attack the Pay Gay Between Men and Women by Teresa Wiltz, she writes about her experience at a company and how she is still paid less than a new employee. Source B consists of Laura Finley giving scenarios to back up her opinions on why the gender pay gap is a myth in Differences in Pay Rates Between Men and Women do not Prove the Existence of Gender Inequality. Both sources give valid points about the wage gap The gender wage gap issue is prevalent in many families across the world and it’s truly heartbreaking. It is 2016, women own land, vote, hold powerful jobs, are independent, and still don’t get paid the same amount men do. The reader is affected by this emotionally because families with one parent should be able to support themselves, and at the least get paid as much as a man for doing the same job and having the same experience. It’s not hard to see that this is unfair for mothers, daughters, and sisters to be paid less. In Source A, Wiltz writes about a women named Aileen Rizo. She is 41 and has worked as a consultant at an education office for over 20 years.
