MC Escher
MC Escher is one of the worlds around famous graphic artists. His work is displayed in many museums and value by millions of people around the world. M.C. Escher, during his lifetime, made 448 lithographs, woodcuts and wood engravings and over 2000 drawings and sketches. Like some of his famous predecessors, - Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Dürer and Holbein-, M.C. Escher was left-handed.(www.mcescher.com). Some of his very famous works include, Night and sidereal day and Ascending and Descending.
Maurits Cornelis Escher was born on June 17, 1898, in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. His father, George was a civil engineer. His family lived in a grand house named Princessehof, that later on became a museum for Eschers work. ?Young Escher locomote with his family to Arnhem. There he attended elementary and secondary shallow. In 1907 he started nurture carpentry and piano. In secondary school his grades were poor withdraw in drawing. His art teacher took an interest in his drawings, and taught him to arouse linoleum cuts. He failed his final exams in high school and never graduated. ?In 1913 M.C. Escher met one of his life long friends, Bas Kist in religious school. Kist was also interested in printing techniques.
In 1917 the Escher family moved to Holland.
During the next few years he substantial an interest in literature and began writing poems and essays. ?In 1918 Escher began canvas architecture at the Higher Technology School in Delft. He managed to get a deferment on host service in order to study. He then moved to Haarlem and began studies at the School for Architecture and Decorative Arts. In the come about of 1919 he began studying graphic arts full time. ? He often liked to draw high and dramatic landscapes. He and a few friends left for Italy in 1922. They returned to Holland after but a couple of weeks. In the spring he wandered the Italian countryside drawing landscapes, plants, and insects.
